So you want to know how it all began? This may take a while but lets begin. It all started back in 1998 when I first discovered HIM. At the time I was building one really basic site for myself and some friends (looking back on it now I cringe at it lol) and along the way learning the very basics of HTML. I then thought, why not make a fan site to share all my photos and knowledge on HIM to all the other fans, very few UK fans at the time. This is when I started working on the concept for the site and the ideas which unfortunately I could not produce with my basic understanding of web development and coding, so I was stuck with creating a static free hosted site called www.Heartagram.i8.com. The site was updated shortly after with a new design but work on that came to a stop before it was complete due to a new idea. Early 2003 I discovered that the domain Heartagram.org was not registered so I bought it there and then. The idea that I had previously was one of the things that makes the site visually stand out from all others to date, I was bored of all the black designs, I wanted something that would make people remember the site and something that was different. By now I had become much better with HTML learning the more advanced features and also got used to the ideas involved in web design so the next design turned out just how I planned. What you see currently is based completely on that original design only varying slightly. Once I had the design figured out I started work on creating the content for the site but I was still unfortunately restricted to mainly static content. I ran the site for a while on my own with part help from Sophie my sister, I also manually added promo team members who helped collect new visitors to the site and make the site more popular. Then came a problem, a lot of the site was lost including team member details when problems with the server they were hosted on occurred, this meant I had no way to get back into contact with them when I created the next version. Now I had been forced to start over with a lot of the site so this time around I added even more features and built on the teams and manual members. Another while of running the site passed with no major changes until I started college in 2003 and made friends with the great guy Asheh, after he got over being scared of my appearance of course. I eventually roped him into helping with the site due to the fact he's got a great mind for programming and picking up new languages. The quickly became dynamic allowing a lot of my ideas to become part of the site that I had originally thought of back when it all started. With a lot of work from myself, Asheh and also Sophie on the research the site quickly became more of a community and more interactive for its users and Heartagram V2 was born. Heartagram V2 ran well gaining more and more users and creating more of a demand from the hosting which was upgraded a few times due to the site becoming so popular. Then towards the end of 2004 myself and Asheh started construction on Heartagram.org V3 which spanned until now, and you can check out V3 now!
